VetUrgency is turning one!
Last May, we opened our doors to the amazing pets of the Frederick and surrounding community and now in the blink of an eye our second year is about to begin! VetUrgency was created as a new facet of veterinary medicine that provides urgent care for pets evenings and weekends as an alternative to a full scale emergency room.
“Believing that a need existed for patients and then seeing the urgent care model for veterinary medicine come to life has been tremendously rewarding for all of us that had this vision. Our staff also enjoys being part of this new type of veterinary medicine and what it offers to the community” shares co-founder, Dr. Faith Lotsikas. This type of practice is a well known model in human medicine, yet seemed to be missing from the veterinary field, until now!
Our veterinary team of dedicated doctors and technicians provide compassionate, quality care. We strive to uphold a standard of care patients would receive at their daytime veterinarian when a need arises after hours. Since VetUrgency opened, more pets have been able to be treated quickly and supported until a follow up visit can be scheduled with their primary care vet if need be.
“The earlier pets are seen the more likely there will be a positive outcome and often the less expensive the treatment will be due to earlier intervention, so we hope our convenient hours and walk-in accessibility will allow for faster more affordable treatments” states co-founder, Kate Nechamkin. As an urgent care facility, VetUrgency works to be an extension of a pet’s primary care veterinary office.
It has been a pleasure and inspiration to bring a new type of veterinary care to the Frederick community.
“We appreciate the support of both our clients and referring veterinary hospitals and look forward to the future as we continue to build on the level of services we can offer” says co-founder, Dr. Peter Lotsikas.
